Meet Kerry

Kerry Egan is a former hospice chaplain, New York Times-bestselling author, and writing coach.

A graduate of Harvard Divinity School, she drew from her experiences as a hospice chaplain to write the bestselling book On Living, a reflection on the emotional and spiritual lessons she learned from people at the end of life. She now uses that experience, education, and skill to help writers tell their stories.

She is also the author of Fumbling: A Journey of Love, Adventure and Renewal on the Camino de Santiago.

Her essays have appeared in CNN, The Washington Post, Oprah.com, and The New York Times, resonating with millions for their honesty and emotional depth. She has also been featured on NPR’s Fresh Air and PBS NewsHour.

She lives with her family in Columbia, South Carolina.
